I've been meaning to share this book that I bought awhile ago. I purchased it without realizing that crewel is a type of specialized embroidery that uses wool thread on linen fabric. Aren't the designs fun? Though they might look a little different, I imagine they could easily work with "regular" embroidery.

I used to do a lot of crewel work, way back. Ah, satin stitch, I remember you well. Love some of the patterns...thanks for sharing, E.
I have always loved doing crewel work and even some of the older designs. I am infatuated with this book now that I see it and I believe I must have it too.. because ya now, we can ALWAYS use more hobbies, right?!
